IRS Rev. Proc. 2026-24 sets the 2027 HSA limits at $4,500 for self-only and $9,000 for family HDHP coverage, up from $4,400 and $8,750. At 55 or older add $1,000; if not eligible all year, count one-twelfth per eligible month.

At 65 the 20% goes away but the income tax does not — it is not free from there on.

HSA grows and invests with triple tax-free; FSA is use-it-or-lose-it pre-tax. Plus 2026 limits.
